The progress that I was making with some of the New Horizon dogs was very slowly coming along. When Jay explained that when in a training session with a dog you have to be firm and establish that you are the leader or alpha, it opened my eyes. Jay Trainer was very helpful in many ways! They must learn you are the alpha and they should feel secure and protected in your presence. Everything I read made sense you need to “establish yourself as the leader” and your dogs should respect your authority. I instantly knew that they would be our dog trainers.

That’s when I knew I had to stop playing around and get professional help.I searched online and came across the AlphA & Omega website and started reading the information about their training. Then one night little Fay darted when she saw the front door ajar and started running all the way to a big, busy street while we ran after her hoping she wouldn’t get run over. positive reinforcement training would not work with her. Therefore, it was immediately evident that “treat training” a.k.a. Furthermore, as a beagle she perceives food as her prerogative and not a special treat. However, she is a beagle so she has the instinct to hunt and run whenever she sees an open door. In the mean time, about 3 months ago we rescued little Fay and she has been the cutest, most cuddly little pup. He became a very anxious fellow and grew protective of his personal space and of us, to the point where I thought he was becoming aggressive. However, he was always pulling on his leash, he was skittish when he heard loud noises, or if there were too many people or other dogs. I love this dog like my child and tried taking him out when we went for dinner, to the park or the beach etc. But the training we received from the big chain pet store was not enough to discipline and make him a well-behaved companion.
They train you and your dog(s) and you know they will be there till the end.We adopted Fevo about 3 years ago and he is a very smart and kind dog.
